Introducing "History in Pieces"

"History in Pieces" is the largest digital and industrial arts project in modern times. It returns your history using an innovative approach to storytelling. It’s a modern-day Green Book, destined to increase in value over the years. Rather than paper, we’re creating limited-edition wooden jigsaw puzzles that are fun, educational, and suitable for all ages. More importantly, this process is looking to build a modern community for the smartest change-makers across America.

In 2004, while renovating a house, I discovered a cardboard box in the basement filled with memorabilia from 1940 to 1970. The box belonged to a graduate of a historically Black college who had collected these items until her passing in 2004. Inspired by this discovery, I added Civil Rights photos and artifacts from 1620 to 1930 to the collection. This inspired me to create "History in Pieces," turning historical content into highly collectible jigsaw puzzles.

Crafting Our Puzzles

In 2012, I scanned the collection of historical images and created map collages of the United States. In 2021, these digital assets were stored on the blockchain. Today, they are printed in high definition onto UV-protected basswood and cut into intricate puzzle pieces.

There are 40 unique state map designs, each limited to 5,000 edition puzzles. Each puzzle has a mirrored-colored reverse side, adding an extra challenge that may require a team of four to solve. For those short on time, the puzzles are delivered already completed.

I believe large industrial art projects offer the best opportunity to build connected communities focused on maintaining history for future generations. That’s why we’re here.
